Weekly Update from Dogwise: Component Training for TDX |

Dear Dogwise Customer,
Dogwise Publishing is pleased to announce the publication of Ed Presnall's latest tracking book titled Component Training for TDX. Ed is a prolific author (Click here to see his other books) and one of the country's leading experts in the field of tracking. Ed is well known for his "component training" techniques which break down the teaching of tracking - for both dog and handler - into discrete and manageable steps. When you think about what it takes for both dog and handler to develop the skills necessary to successfully complete the kinds of tracks you face at the Tracking Dog Excellent level it can be quite daunting. The answer is to break the process down into logical components and then chain them together while practicing in varied conditions. This way of learning to track competitively (or just for fun) has worked for the many many people who have worked with Ed over the years. One more note on this book, you may see that it has a bit of an odd shape. We did that to make the book more portable and usable out in the field since you will want to be able to reference the lessons and advice on each component as you work on them.
