Ever Wondered What it Looks Like?, February 20, 2008
Reviewer: Tami Hawes
Ali's Focus Not Fear walks you through the classes of a group of dogs over a period of seven months. You get to meet the dogs and their issues as well as their handlers. Then Ali details how the classes went over that time, and the ups and downs that happen over that time.

Training behaviors or dog behaviors are in bold through the sections, so if you wanted, you could skim for those in the training logs. They are also easily indexed in the back of the book for quick page finds.

Photographs! Tons of photos in here and not hard to see black and white ones but full beautiful color ones. Diagrams are also in color!

Ali was our guest author in November 2007 at CSDogBookReview for this book, check out our archives for that visit.

Good Information, But Hard to Find, February 8, 2008
Reviewer: Stephanie
I really hate giving this book such a low rating because I am a fan of the author and the work she does with reactive dogs.

This book was a play-by-play of the happenings in her reactive dog classes. I found it difficult to follow especially because there were so many people and dog names to remember which were constantly referred to.

That said, the different training exercises were interesting and valuable to anyone working with a reactive dog. However, it was just very difficult to read, the end of the book seemed rushed, and the training exercises were just lost in the pages of play-by-play narration.

Had the book been organized differently, I feel it would be a much more valuable training reference.

What I liked best about this book:
- Variety of training ideas
- Color photos and exercise diagrams

A blessing, December 7, 2007
Reviewer: Kim
I have had a great blessing given to me the day I first met Ali. She has helped Mollie and I through so much. She helped me to learn so much about Mollie and taught Mollie that it's not such a scary world out there. I love this book because it helps me continue with the training Mollie and I so desperately need. Mollie's training cannot be limited to a two hour class once a week and I can look to the book for help in getting through the normal day to day things we run across on our outings throughout the week. I have learned ways to use what we do in class out in the real world even if other people and dogs aren't aware they are helping Mollie overcome some of her many fears.
I would recommend this book to trainers and dog owners alike. It is packed full of training tips and ideas for working with fearful dogs. This book along with Ali's first book 'Scaredy Dog' have been great tools for me. I literally carried her first book with me for many months just so I could use it as a reference when I was in need of advice.
