New Strategies and Plans for Separation Anxiety

It has now been six years since the release of Malena DeMartini-Price’s best selling first book, Treating Separation Anxiety in Dogs. Not one to rest on her laurels, Malena has been busy teaching and mentoring dog trainers worldwide to become Certified Separation Anxiety Trainers (CSAT). Working in collaboration with a large network of trainers to collect data and conduct research, new strategies have been developed on many of the key elements of treating separation anxiety. Now, in a completely new book, Malena share these strategies for the use of current technologies, no absence management, and improved desensitization techniques. Any trainer or guardian dealing with separation anxiety will find this book a valued resource.

What experts are saying about Separation Anxiety in Dogs

Malena's first book on separation anxiety was a game changer, but her newest book, 6 years later, is even better: it is packed with new information, new insights about the principles involved, and backed by solid data. To quote from the final sentence in her book, "...separation anxiety is fixable..." and Malena brilliantly demonstrates how!

Empathetic and comprehensive discussion of a serious issue.

Posted by Steven Cogswell on 7th Dec 2021

I heard Malena talk at a 5 day webinar and was impressed with her knowledge and her compassion. This book is filled with both. It's not a step-by-step how to, although it has many usable strategies. I felt it was written with the idea the more we understand something the better we can find solutions. After reading it, I felt like I had a much better "big picture" understanding of separation anxiety; what causes it, what people with dogs who suffer from it are going through, what positive steps they can take, and as a future dog trainer myself ways I can help future clients. It's very readable without shying away from the science. It's a very generous sharing of her expertise and insight. Highly, highly recommend it.

Doesn't seem feasible to follow this

Posted by Unknown on 26th Jan 2021

I stopped at chapter 3 as there is just no way i'm going to use NextDoor to have random people stay home with my dog or pay so much for dog walkers/sitters because I cannot leave my dog alone for more than a rigid amount of training time. It impinges on safety of my dog and my home and I just don't have family around who can willingly jump in. Very disappointed and I had to stop reading.
